During the contemporary era many nations and areas emerged as global superpowers. When we think of those superpowers we usually think of the United States or Europe, but one of the most underrated regions is Asia. During the contemporary era parts of Asia became extremely modernized and westernized. In addition to that Japan emerged as an industrial tycoon during WWII. Besides China, and Japan, India also globalized due to their highly popular Bollywood.
World War IIDuring WWII the German empire was mainly powerful because of their allies, the Japanese. With their military superiority at the time, the United States was bombed at Pearl Harbor. Our exhibit shows two of the aircrafts that were part of the infamous bombing of Pearl Harbor.

WesternizationAfter WWII the United States really emerged as a global superpower. But what people really fail to see is that China progressed just as much as the U.S. During the late 19th century and early 20th century China built, and expanded their transportation, their cities, and their economy. This exhibit is one of the first trains ever used in China on the first inter-regional railroad in China.

GlobalizationThis exhibit displays one of the first ever IIFA awards given because of a bollywood movie. This is from the first ever awards show 13 years ago. Bollywood has became a large part of globalization for India, and has brought on a whole other perspective for the world, rather than just the third world country that many portray India as.

Communism in Korea
Despite the great and immense progress that most parts of Asia have come to, there are still parts, such as North Korea, where communism, and dictatorship is still a real thing. Even though it has been contained in mainly that area, the rest of the world is still greatly affected by this unbalanced, hierarchical system. For one all nations have decolonized from that part after the Vietnam War. This exhibit shows an original picture taken by a drone, of Chinese, and North Korean communists organizing, and controlling during the 1900's.
