The use of the internet in contemporary Europe has pushed globalization to the limits. As a result of the internet Europe's economy has grown and expanded due to the new markets that became available with the internet. This exhibit displays the first ever computer. We chose this because without this computer APRA would never have created Apranet which in turn led to the internet in 1962.

Europe played a huge part in the Contemporary Era. Europe itself has been in control of the world since it industrialized in the 1700's. Despite this, after internal conflicts during WWI and WWII, other superpowers arose to compete with Europe.
Decolonization occurred when the British let India gain it's independence from a three century rule. The exhibit displayed for decolonization shows a copy of the Constitution of India. This was after the British rule ended in 1947. Our WWII exhibit for Europe displays one of the original aircrafts that flew in the Battle of Britain. This was an important battle in WWII. After the infamous Cold War, another conflict arose; the Space Race, a battle between capitalist, democratic, United States against the communist, socialist Soviet Union. Each superpower wanted to demonstrate their new found industrial, economic, and military power. To do so they turned to space. This exhibit is shows the a large amount of the space hardware, and technology the Soviets used during this time. |
